PHILMONT EXPEDITION 714C1 2007 Trek 16

Day 1 - Ponil - Base Camp ~ Saturday

Had cereal and Honey Buns for breakfast. Broke camp rolled in went through
registration and got new gear and food, man is it heavy. It rained a little bit
but its cool. Pretty much just hurry up and wait. Easy day, I volunteered to be
Chaplin for our crew, seems easy I'll like it.

Day 2 - Base Camp to Lovers Leap ~ Sunday

First day on the trail!!!! Woke up, ate breakfast in the Dining Hall, went to wait
for the bus at 9:30. My pack weighed in at 51 lbs. Hiking was easy only 4 1/2
miles or something like that. Lovers Leap was awesome 700 ft all the way
down. Saw a bear! Set up camp had a good sleep.

Day 3 - Lovers Leap to Crater Lake ~ Monday

More like a pond, smaller then Granny's, wish I could jump in. Already smell
really bad, can't imagine what it will be like at the end. Views are amazing,
doesn't seem real. Spar Pole climbing was Ballin! Dinner tonight was pretty
good. OMG The campfire was Amazing/Fantastic it was so funny.  

Day 4 - Crater Lake to Black Mountain ~ Tuesday

10.5 miles OMG I'm so tired lots of poison ivy washed my legs in the creek
with techno hope it works. Mac and cheese Good!!! Fell asleep to the sweet,
sweet sound of the babbling brook. It was nice and peaceful. So far I've
gotten compliments each day on my devotional so thats not bad I like it.  

Day 5 - Black Mountain to Beaubien ~ Wednesday

Not a bad hike it was a really good day. Except when we went to PJ and
picked up the 77 bags of food. It was heavy. Overall it was a good day.
Rained and hailed like all get out in buckets during CONS. It was Gay.

Day 6 - Beaubien - Layover ~ Thursday

Slept in till the sun woke me up its a layover. Easy day, Right? Wrong! 10.3
mile hike to Trail Peak. Peed off an airplane wing at 10,114 ft. Came back,
stripped food and repacked my pack. Branded my hat, I lead tomorrow up
Wildhorse.

Day 7 - Beaubien to Wildhorse ~ Friday

I was lead today. It sucked, hailed twice. Today was Gay!

Day 8 - Wildhorse to Mt. Phillips ~ Saturday

Hailed 4 times , 11,714 ft. Today was Gayer than yesterday.

Day 9 - Mt. Phillips to Cimarroncito ~ Sunday

11.6 mile hike it sucked. Stopped at a place called Cypher's Mine got to go
into a real mine shaft. Some gay girl got the new Harry Potter book. Rubbed
it in our faces. I was pissed.

Day 10 - Cimarroncito - Layover ~ Monday

Slept till 8:00, went rock climbing it was fun. God its hot!! I would like a bacon
and cheese Whataburger with ketchup, mustard, pickles, with jalapenos. 2
trail days left then shower time.

Day 11 - Cimarroncito to Tooth Ridge Camp ~ Tuesday

14.4 miles today, 69 miles to the date. Today was very hot. Some really cool
views, I wish other people could see it. I'm so tired right now I don't feel like
writing.
